Dr Sabir Zaman completed his undergraduate training at Imperial College London before undertaking his postgraduate training across East London at Whipps Cross Hospital, Homerton Hospital, and The Royal London Hospital. He has been a GP Principal in Tower Hamlets since 2012, where he has helped lead well-respected Teaching and Training Practices in the Bethnal Green area. He is passionate about patient engagement, delivering quality patient care, Medical Education, Leadership, and Global Health. Dr Zaman has held several prestigious roles outside of his Practice work which support the quality of care he provides his patients. He is currently a Lead Examiner for the MRCGP SCA examination, a national assessment all trainee GPs must complete to achieve licensing. He has been both Academic Lead for Year 5 in the Community Based Medical Education Unit at Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, Queen Mary University, as well as Senior Internal Examiner responsible for MBBS Finals OSCE examinations. Dr Zaman is a Fellow of the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP), and is currently Provost of the RCGP North East London Faculty. He previously sat on RCGP UK Council representing North East London, working particularly hard to raise issues relating to diversity and equality. He has Chaired his local Primary Care Network (PCN) and has been an elected member of the Tower Hamlets Local Medical Committee (LMC), advocating for patients and his colleagues. Dr Zaman has supported Family Medicine training abroad and has provided humanitarian medical aid to displaced migrants in refugee camps around the world. He has obtained a Masters Degree in Global Public Health and Policy to help support these interests. Dr Zaman has spent his career embedded within the diverse communities in and around Bethnal Green and has a deep understanding of patient needs and concerns. He is determined to support all patients to have happy and healthy lives despite the challenges we all face today.
